Events Info

This October, ASHRAE NED Student Branch is bringing to you the biggest event of the year. A three day long extravaganza of competitions, seminars, workshops and an assortment of other entertaining events that will leave competitors enthralled, excited and truly bring forward the best young minds from across the country.

THE ASHRAE NED Student Branch is renowned for organizing the most innovative events in NED, and we are ready to out-do ourselves this time again. The ASHRAE students Conference and Exhibition (A.C.E. - '14) is being organized at NED University , here we will bring together the best young minds from across the country. The event will comprise of 6 competitions, a series of technical seminars, a workshop and a number of other social activities.
The following competitions will be a part of A.C.E. ' '14 (All competitions are open for both engineering and non-engineering students)

1. Quiz Competition:
(Rs 500/team of 2 participants)

Quick thinking, vast knowledge and intelligent improvisation are the hallmarks of engineers and our unique Quiz Competition is designed to test that. Teams will compete across a number of rounds with increasing difficulty to test them on subjects from general IQ to Thermodynamics, Mathematics, Physics and other basic engineering courses.
More than a just a test of memory, the competition is designed to assess students on their speed of thought and ability to adapt.

2. Ingenious:
(Rs 400/team of 2 participants)

Innovative thinking and creative solutions are what define engineers. For those who get a thrill from being challenged and believe in innovation, we have designed a competition to test those grey cells. Students will have to put away their books and notes as this is a pure test of out of the box thinking and spontaneous solutions.
Participating teams will be provided with a number of parts which they will be required to assemble into a required engineering item. The ingenuity of their design, its practicality and the quality of the assembled product will decide who wins this inventive competition.

3. Technical Presentation Competition:
(Rs 400/participants)

All too often great engineering ideas are let down by a failure to communicate them effectively. It is in keeping up with this belief that we bring this competition meant to stimulate thought and a new vision. ASHRAE is providing young engineers looking for a future in the Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning profession across the country a platform to bring forth their ideas and woo our judges with the originality and ambition of their visions and their personal academic prowess.
This is an ideal opportunity for young engineers to hone their presentation skills while also showcasing their grasp on the technical aspects of their Respective profession. They will be judged by senior faculty members as well as industry professionals.

4. Technical Poster Design Competition:
(Rs 400/participants)

Artistic creativity is a skill that is often lacking in many modern engineers and we have designed this competition specifically to rectify this. The mind of an engineer is often filled with ideas of incredible depth and we are challenging our participants to come up with ever more creative ways to portray these ideas.
The participants will have to Show thier skills in their respective Engineering field, using purely the visual medium they must be able to convey both the theme and content of their ideas on a poster. Entries will be judged on the clarity of the ideas presented, creativity of thought and scope of imagination of the creator.

5. Engineering Tempest:
(Rs 600 per team of 3 participants)

Engineering tempest is another stimulating competition in which the participants would be required to think spontaneously and act immediately. This would include searching for hidden items, locations or places, following clues as a group or splitting into teams to race to a prize.
Each team would be provided with a set of similar clues leading them to the location of the next set of clues. The team who will be able to successfully decipher all the hidden clues within the specific time allotted shall be declared the winner. This will be an outdoor activity and the clues could be placed anywhere within the University premises.

6. Edible Car Competition:
(Rs 400 per team of 2 participants)

Ever thought of constructing a car with food items?
At A.C.E. – ‘14, we have planned to organize a competition aimed to force the young engineers to use their creativity and develop strategies to build innovatively with the unique edible material. An edible car contest is a high interest, hands-on activity for engaging people of any age and at any educational level in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to think critically. This contest will also incorporate teamwork, oral and written communication, marketing and a variety of other skills for the competitors.
