About TED:
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment, and design converged. Today, it covers topics from all aspects - science to business to global social issues - in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. Past speakers include known names as well as silent champions such as former President Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, Poet Sarah Kay, and founder of Khan Academy Salman Khan. Since 2006 TED talks have been viewed and shared online by the order of millions with over 1600 talks having been viewed 1 billion times as of 2012.
About TEDxSZABIST:
Our theme for TEDxSZABIST this year is "Words to Actions" thereby highlighting projects in our community that our making groundbreaking changes in an attempt to better our society. Therefore, we intend to understand the process behind these many projects and explore the core ideas in order to inspire the kind of thinking that is required to challenge everyday notions and make for innovative leaders.
