Subject : Terrorists storm police training college in Quetta, 20 injured(Video Included)
At least 22 people including police recruits and two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have been wounded in the wake of an attack on Police Training College here, officials and hospital sources said Monday. Unknown assailants have entered into the hostel of the police training center on Quetta's Saryab Road and opened fire on recruits. There have been reports of sporadic gunfire by the assailants. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has placed the number of attackers at 5-6. At least 22 injured have been brought to the Civil Hospital Quetta, hospital sources said. They included recruits, who attempted to flee the center as terrorists waged the attack, and two FC personnel. Two of the wounded were said to be in precarious condition. CM Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri said the miscreants attacked the training center located on the suburbs of Quetta. He said there was prior intelligence of the attack and so the security was put on high alert. "I am myself monitoring the situation. Our forces have entered into the center and soon these terrorists will be eliminated," Zehri said. com.jpg) Due to high security across the provincial capital, these terrorists opted for the police college in a suburban area, he added. Speaking to media, Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said an operation is underway at the training center and soon it will be cleared. He was briefing news men from outside the training center. A recruit who witnessed the entire situation said nearly four militants barged into the training center around 9 30 pm and opened indiscriminate fire. "Then, they entered into the barracks," he said. A loud explosion also occurred in the vicinity that echoed to far-flung areas, our correspondent told, resulting in panic in the vicinity for a brief period. Sources said the attackers also lobbed three crackers which resulted in breaking out of a fire inside the center. Heavy contingents of police and Frontier Corps reached the spot and surrounded the vicinity. Pakistan Army and FC troops as well as police commandos have entered into the hostel, an an operation is underway. Pakistan Army sent reinforcements. An emergency have been imposed at hospitals across the provincial capital.
