Recipe for Kulcha
Ingredients
- 2 cups maida (all purpose flour)
- 1/4 tsp soda bicarbonate
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp yogurt (curd/dahi)
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Butter- as needed
Cooking Directions
Sift maida and soda bicarb. Mix yogurt and milk to the flour. Add enough water to make smooth dough. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, covered with a damp cloth.
Add 1 tablespoon oil and knead the dough well. Cover the dough and set aside for 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Divide the dough into 6-8 portions and shape them into balls.
Roll out these balls on a lightly floured surface, into 5 inch rounds. Brush lightly with oil.
Preheat oven to 220 degree C.
Place kulchas on a greased baking tray. Bake them for 6-8 minutes.
Brush kulcha with butter and serve hot.
