Recipe for China Town Chicken


  • Chicken 1/2 kg
  • Ginger garlic chopped 2 tbsp
  • Star anise 2
  • White pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed black pepper 1 tsp
  • Soya sauce 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar 4tbsp
  • Vinegar 2 tbsp
  • Homey 1 tbsp
  • Corn flour 1tbsp
  • Chinese salt 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1-2 tbsp
  • Salt as required

Cooking Directions

Boil the chicken with 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste, water and 2 star anise.

In a mixing bowl combine together 1/2 tsp white pepper powder, 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper, 1/2 cup soya sauce, 4 tbsp brown sugar, 2 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp honey, 1/3 tsp

Chinese salt, 1-2 tbsp oil and salt as required.

Add the prepared mixture to the chicken and cook until tender.

Mix the corn flour in water and add to the chicken stirring continuously.

Cook until the mixture thickens.

Transfer to a dish and serve with fried rice.
