Recipe for Creamy Chicken Handi


  • Chicken 1 kg (cut in 12 pieces)
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Dry fenugreek leaves 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Onions 2 medium (finely sliced)
  • Tomatoes 5 medium (boiled, skin of and grinned to a paste)
  • Ginger & garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Double cream 1 cup
  • Thick greek yogurt 1 cup
  • Bullet green chili 2 (sliced)
  • Fresh ginger 1 inch piece (Julian)
  • Fresh coriander 3 tbsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup

Cooking Directions

Heat oil and fry the chicken till changes colour, on high flame, then take out and keep aside.

Now in the same oil add onions and fry till golden.

Add cumin seeds, ginger & garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes, on high flame.

Then add the fried chicken, fenugreek leaves, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala powder, salt, grinned tomato paste, cream, yogurt, water 1/2 cup mix well, wait for a boil on high flame, then cover and cook on low to medium flame till the chicken is tender and oil comes on surface.

Now add fresh coriander, green chili, ginger mix well.

Serve hot with roti or naan.
