An opening night exclusive screening of the film ‘Kill Dil’ was held at The Atrium Cinemas, Karachi to raise funds for the Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust (LKMWT) – an NGO dedicated to the cause of education and healthcare for the under-privileged sector. The funds generated from ticket proceeds will be utilized in serving the society with greater fervor. More than 270 people attended the movie screening including celebrities such as Suneeta Marshall and Baneeta Marshall. Prior to the movie, a short film celebrating the life and work of renowned actor – the late Mr. Latif Kapadia was also screened commemorating his vision to serve mankind. His words, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose!” became the inspiration behind LKMWT’s founding and is now an apt tagline for the NGO.
The LKMWT is a non-profit organization which was established in 2007 by a team of admirers of the renowned Thespian. Since its inception, the Trust has been providing healthcare and educational services to some of the most impoverished families on the outskirts of Karachi, where patients receive free or highly subsidized consultation and medication.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of LKMWT, Ahmed Kapadia said, “We started LKMWT with a vision to fulfill the life-long commitment of my late father to serve humanity in any form – big or small. LKMWT has been making a positive contribution by providing cost-effective education and healthcare facilities in the underprivileged areas of Karachi. To take our endeavors to the next level, we have been organizing various fund raisers. The movie screening of Kill Dill is one such example with many more to follow in the near future.”
Each year more than 35,000 underprivileged people benefit from LKMWT’s high quality Healthcare Services. More information on the Trust can be found at:
