Subject : Former DG Radio Pakistan, MD PTV Agha Nasir passes away
Former Director General Radio Pakistan and Managing Director PTV Agha Nasir passed away in Islamabad on Tuesday. He was born on 9th February 1937 in Mumbai, India.Nasir was one of those celebrities that are true to their title and work in TV industry. He started off as a broadcaster for the Pakistan Radio in 1955, and by the time television came to Pakistan in 1964, he was already a well-known radio broadcaster, producer and writer. Nasir have directed different Pakistani movies, and have worked with Pakistani stars including Waheed Murad and Talat Iqbal. Apart from direction, he was also a much admired writer.Senior journalist Imtiaz Alam told Daily Times, "Agha Nasir was a distinguished intellectual, writer, broadcaster and one of the leading founders of television. He was a great comrade and was loved by everybody". One of the founders of SAFMA, he always guided us and was a great asset of progressive writers who have Pakistan its most dynamic and progressive narrative. His life and work will continue to inspire us. Agha sahib will be missed and will be remembered in all noble endeavors. His funeral prayers will be offered after Asar prayers today.
