Recipe for Black Beans Patties

Ingredients

  • Black beans or canned beans 1/2 lb
  • Oats 1 cup
  • Bread crumbs 1/2 cup
  • Onion 1/4 (grated or finely chopped)
  • Carrot 1/2 cup (grated)
  • Garlic 2 cloves (minced)
  • Salsa sauce 2 table spoons
  • Roasted cumin powder 1 tea spoon
  • Red pepper flakes 1/2 tea spoon (optional)
  • Black pepper powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Cilantro handful (finely chopped)
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

Soak the black beans overnight and pressure cook it for 2 whistles to make Black Beans Patties.

Canned beans can also be used.

Add the oats, breadcrumbs in a food processor and pulse it few times.

Now add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, chopped cilantro and cooked beans and pulse it for few minutes.

Add salt, Red pepper flakes, black pepper powder and cumin powder, pulse it again till all comes together.

Remove the entire mixture into a bowl and mix in the salsa sauce with it.

Make small patties of desired size and shallow fry it on a griddle.

Serve Black Beans Patties as an appetizer with tomato sauce or use it to make black bean burgers or roll it inside flat breads to make wraps.
