Earlier this week, Sindh Police launched a WhatsApp helpline where the residents of Karachi can send their complaints. It has been launched with an aim to encourage citizens to report any illegal activities with ease. The WhatsApp helpline number 0343-5142770 will be receiving complaints like terrorism and target killings to name a few. Along with the WhatsApp helpline, a Facebook page by the name of ‘Karachi Police Office’ has also been introduced to receive the public complaints. It is for the first time that the Sindh police is using social media to help out the citizens of Karachi. Apart from that, the higher authorities plan to form a new rapid Police patrolling squad comprising of 2000 police officials as well. These announcements were made by Karachi Range Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dr. Amir Ahmed Shaikh after the inauguration of the new building of SITE Self Security System (SSSS). During his speech, he added that the Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has promised to allocate funds to make Karachi a safe city. Murad Ali Shah further plans to develop an extensive CCTV Network around the city for surveillance as it is not possible to deploy policeman in every area of the city.
