Recipe for Kofta Kebab Dhuan (Smoked Meatball Curry)

Ingredients

  • For Meatballs:
  • Minced beef ½ kg
  • Onions 2
  • Eggs 2
  • Bread 3 slices
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Whole red chili 8 – 10
  • Whole cumin 1 tbsp
  • Whole coriander 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coal 1 pieces
  • For Gravy:
  • Tomato puree 1 cup
  • Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1, ½ tbsp or to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • All spice powder 1 tsp
  • Onion paste ½ cup
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander for garnishing
  • Oil as required

Cooking Directions

For Meatballs: Chop together the minced beef, onions, eggs, bread slices, garlic, whole red chili, cumin, whole coriander and salt in a food processor.

Make small meatballs and steam for 10 – 15 minutes.

Remove from the steamer.

Place the meatballs in a pan; place a piece of burning coal in the middle of the pan, drizzle 1/2 a tbsp oil over it and tightly cover the pan.

For Gravy: Heat oil in a pan, add garlic paste and onion paste.

Fry for 2 – 3 minutes.

Add in red chili powder, turmeric powder, all spice powder and salt.

Cook for 1 minute then add the tomato puree and beaten yogurt, cook for 5 minutes.

Cook till the oil floats on the surface.

Now add the prepared meatballs along with 1 ½ cup boiling water.

Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Garnish with chopped coriander and serve.
